I was just talking to my mom this last weekend about Shannara series - The Sword/Elfstones/Wishsong of Shannara. "Sword" was the first fantasy novel I read as a kid. I still have vivid memories of the worlds and the characters - great writing.

I found myself quite exhausted reading the WOT series. It was great when I first started reading it but after a while the plot lines diverged radically and in so many different directions it was difficult to remember which was which. It didn't help that the books were produced so far apart. In any case, if you do start on Brooks, I suggest going with the Wishsong of Shannara (if you're not adverse to working back and forth through a saga).

Thanks for that, I may have to pick up a Terry Brooks novel in the near future. I've finished off The Wheel Of Time series for the third time just recently and need something else to read...
