Time to build my igloo
Finally, snow! I'm heading out to build my igloo, harness the sled dogs and if I'm lucky and the river freezes over, I might do a little ice-fishing. Yeah right.
I woke up this morning not expecting anything more from this crappy winter except more dessicated brown and vomit green and the few patches of ice still clinging stubbornly to my shrubs. To my surprise, and later to my annoyance, the snows finally came. It was still too warm a couple weeks ago, and the ground hadn’t frozen enough to hold the snow for very long, but we’ve had a few cold, cold nights lately and I think this latest snowfall is here to really kick us in the ass.
It took a little over an hour and a half to get into work this morning, as the bus had to fight its way through long lines of traffic - especially in this one area (Pinecrest) just as you get into Ottawa. It’s a bit of a good sign that our weather is finally catching up, and a little disturbing that it’s been so late coming.
Let’s just hope the snow stays - we need it, believe it or not.

Unfortunately I can’t take credit for the photo - which reminds me, I had better post a credit - I found it on an Ottawa tourism site, but I’ll end up swapping it in with my own once Winterlude comes around.
Swing around to the eastern half of Canada when you can; it can get pretty damn cold out here compared to most places in southern BC, or the west coast for that matter.
