I've been working on a few illustrations over the past few months and recently I've begun a new series. I don't have a lot of spare time on my hands most weeks, so I didn't want to start a project that would consume a lot what time I did have. While doodling this past weekend, I came up with some little icon-like critters that are a blend of Asian caricatures, and elements of north American illustration.

I developed these caricatures as little icons that I could use in place of MSN pictures or avatars on various sites. I don’t really like to use photos of myself, and there are times I just want something that’s a little expressive, fun, and different.

I’ll post more as I develop the series. Let me know what you think!

Edit:

Here are a couple new freakies that I created earlier — I thought I’d update this post rather than generate a new one. I may end up creating a new page altogether for these, but well see.

Thanks Robert! These are just roughs at the moment, but I’m developing the idea a little further — perhaps next week I’ll have one or two more to show.

I love the creatures, was hoping when i saw you on my feed reader it was to announce the new theme but these are good enough for now ;)

Are these allowed to be used as icons (msn etc.) nothing commercial of course.

Very cool illustrations. I’d like a one-zee with this illustration on it for my kid!
